Nash County says 2025 brought investments in infrastructure, public safety and new jobs

At the county’s March meeting, Chairman Marvin Arrington delivered the 2025 State of the County address, outlining investments in facilities, public safety, health and human services, and economic development.
Arrington said 2025 saw work on several capital projects: a 6,700‑square‑foot expansion of the Nash County Senior Center that will add fitness space and classrooms; design work to convert the former Fellowship Church into a Nash County Recreation Center; consolidation of county health‑department services at the UNC Nash Hospital campus; exterior restoration of the historic Nash County Courthouse expected to finish in 2026; and Phase Two of the Northern Nash Water System, which the address said added 19 miles of water lines and wells.
The chairman described public‑safety investments, saying Emergency Management acquired Starlink satellite internet to maintain communications during emergencies and that the county received a drone from the Gary Sinise Foundation to assist fire investigations and search‑and‑rescue operations. County officials said 911 call‑handling equipment was replaced and radio antenna equipment upgraded to improve countywide signal synchronization. Arrington also reported that the Sheriff's Office filled sworn vacancies through recruitment and a revised pay and rank structure, and that deputies seized “more than 100 firearms” and significant quantities of fentanyl, cocaine and other narcotics.
On public‑health and social services, Arrington said the Health Department earned accreditation in 2025 and Behavioral Health launched a web portal to let residents check restaurant grades and violations. The Department of Social Services hosted a community resource fair and maintained performance across child‑welfare and benefits programs; Veteran Services assisted more than 700 veterans and held their first Veterans Day service. The Pet Connection Center expanded staffing and Saturday adoption opportunities to increase pet adoptions.
Arrington said Nash County’s economy showed progress in 2025: the county welcomed 120 new jobs and $45.5 million in capital investment. He said the project pipeline included 83 active projects representing the potential for more than 15,000 jobs and $12 billion in capital investment. To support growth, the county invested in site readiness, citing a shell building at the Nashville Business Center and improvements at the Middlesex Corporate Center.
Arrington closed by saying the county is presently financially stable and thanked residents and staff. Several commissioners then identified themselves by district during the program.
