The Clawson DDA approved holding Cinema in the Streets on July 25 and authorized staff to proceed with the FunFlicks screening contract, asking staff to return with the vendor invoice and final budget details.
Staff said last year’s screen rental and film licensing cost was about $2,500; the board proposed a not‑to‑exceed figure near that amount and discussed modest increases to cover concessions or small props. The board also agreed to set a clear rain date (proposed August 1) and to confirm with the vendor whether the vendor could accommodate a close‑in rain date.
Members discussed ways to offset costs — sponsorships, popcorn sales and a 50/50 raffle that helped previous years break even — and asked staff to supply a finalized invoice so the DDA can budget precisely. The board approved the motion to reserve the date and contract subject to receiving the screening invoice and budget details.
