Aurora finance committee seeks more frequent financial updates as officials outline reporting limits

Members of the Aurora Finance Committee pressed city finance staff on March 26 for more frequent and more usable financial snapshots to inform the 2027 budget process.
Aldermen said they want financial information earlier than the traditional midyear report so the council can discuss priorities such as gaming-fund policy, the tax rate, multi-year forecasting and public-safety spending before the budget is finalized. "It would be nice to have these discussions before the budget process starts so that there's understanding where we're coming from," one alderman said.
