Donations: The board accepted the loan of a VEX robotics unit from More for Kids (donor retains ownership) and several cash donations: $235 earmarked for the library, $1,408.50 for library supplies (including towers and eight beanbag chairs), and $1,239.98 for books and teacher supplies. The board expressed appreciation for More for Kids and the Lions Club, and noted Becky Wicklund as the monthly Community Supporting Teachers winner; a gift certificate was donated by Diamond Valley Construction and Mike and Amy Jones. Motion to accept all donations was made by Corey, seconded by Kelly, and approved.
Personnel: The board accepted the retirement of elementary teacher Kathy Koball and the resignations of elementary teachers Shelby Baisey and Jenna Lowe. Trustees discussed capturing any additional duties associated with those staff members (for example, a Facebook coordinator role) in the record and ensuring retirement benefits and related paperwork are documented in the minutes.
Closed session: Because questions about the hiring of a baseball assistant coach were not fully addressed in committee, trustees amended the agenda to move that hiring discussion to the closed session (item D) and later voted to convene a closed session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(c),(e),(f),(g) to discuss the coach hiring along with listed resignations and a potential retirement. The motion to go into closed session was made by Corey and seconded by Jamie; roll call was taken.
