Aransas Pass ISD's chief financial officer, Miss Moreno, told the board on March 23 that the district received a 92 on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) first report for the 2024–25 school year, a rating the district described as "superior."
Miss Moreno summarized the FIRST metrics as covering spending within budget, fund balance sufficiency and timely, accurate financial reporting. Trustees asked follow-up questions about indicator 21, which relates to FSP/FSS repayment plans; Miss Moreno said she would research the specific drivers for that lower indicator and email trustees with details.
The board also received February financial statements: total cash of $6,165,252.54 and total disbursements of $1,581,199.31. The local fund has received 60.81% of expected revenue and expended 52.15% to date; the food service and debt service fund percentages were reported in the packet. The district reported earning $23,427.58 in investment interest for the month ending Feb. 28. Tax collection figures were provided in the board packet; the transcript includes the numbers as spoken in the meeting materials.
The FIRST hearing was informational and required no action. Trustees closed the public hearing and moved on to other agenda items.
