The candidate recommended to the board, Anashka Vias of Franklin High School, told trustees she planned to "strengthen district transparency, student engagement and resource accessibility," including amplifying the student voice committee and briefing trustees on student perspectives.
Trustees moved and seconded the appointment, noted that the student will take the seat on July 1, 2026, and invited the student and family for a photograph. Chair announced the appointment was approved unanimously.
The board’s action formalizes the student advisory role that provides a preferential (advisory) vote and mandates regular student input through subcommittees and other channels. No formal conditions or qualifications beyond the selection process were added at the meeting.
