Dr. Bill Bradford reported that Superintendent Liggins and district leadership prepared a balanced tentative budget for presentation to the Board in May that included eliminating certain positions and reducing some work calendars. Bradford said those choices were ‘‘incredibly difficult’’ but necessary to stabilize finances and that specific positions and cost savings will be communicated publicly soon.
Committee members asked whether affected staff had already been notified and whether the district followed an equitable process in determining reductions. Bradford said decisions were concentrated and communicated last week to the extent expected and that he would make a record of requests for follow‑up information and ensure members receive answers about process and notifications.
Why it matters: Position eliminations affect staff, classroom operations and equity considerations across the district; ECC members requested clarity on notification timing and process fairness. Bradford offered to follow up with more detailed information.
