Lemon Grove council continues dispensary appeal to April 7 after recording problems

Lemon Grove City Council paused a scheduled public hearing on an appeal of a community development manager's use permit for a proposed cannabis dispensary at 8280 Broadway (MUP-250-001, APN 499-200-22-00) and continued the hearing to April 7 at 6 p.m. after technical problems prevented recording of the proceeding.
City staff and the city attorney explained the chamber microphones and recording system were not functioning and that proceeding without a recorded administrative record could prejudice the appellant. Staff offered options to take the item at the end of the meeting or continue it; the appellant told the council they preferred continuing to April so that the hearing could be recorded and public records could be available.
Councilmember Altamirano moved to continue the hearing; Councilmember Mendoza seconded. The clerk recorded the roll-call vote as aye from Councilmember Smith, Councilmember Altamirano, Councilmember Mendoza, Mayor Pro Tem Heredia and Mayor Snow. The motion carried 5–0.
The council also clarified that written comments addressing item 2 would be made available at the meeting when that item is heard. The public hearing remains open and will be heard in council chambers at the continued meeting.
