Glenn Gonzalez reported out of closed session that the board approved the classified management employment of David Meade as Director I Business Services, effective Aug. 25, 2025; that motion was presented as made by Mrs. Merchant and seconded by Mr. Raaga and carried unanimously.
On the consent calendar the board approved multiple routine items but pulled several for discussion. Board members discussed item 13C (the crisis text line): staff said the crisis text number is printed on secondary student ID cards, follow‑up is handled by Student Services, and that last‑year utilization was on the order of roughly 60 contacts. The board asked staff to confirm whether elementary students have access to the resource and to consider additional placements for the contact information.
Board also pulled item 14L (a stipulated and suspended expulsion) and voiced differing views; Vice President Chris Raaga said he disagreed with the outcome but moved approval to avoid returning the student to school without an order. The measure passed.
Later, the board adopted several resolutions related to the formation of Community Facilities District (CFD) 25‑1, certified unanimous landowner ballots in favor of propositions A, B and C (five landowner votes), and approved a refunding resolution authorizing staff to pursue bond refinancing under parameters set in the resolution. The board additionally approved credential waivers for two dual language immersion hires and authorized two certificated multiple‑subject teachers to teach departmentalized middle school dance and music classes while they satisfy unit requirements.
