The Mill Valley School District board voted June 5 to approve a tentative agreement with the Mill Valley Teachers Association (MVTA) and to accept required AB1200 fiscal disclosures tied to the settlement. District staff said MVTA members had ratified a tentative agreement and that the board's vote incorporated the salary schedules and benefit changes necessary for the 2025‑26 budget.
A representative for the MVTA told the board members that union members had voted to ratify the tentative agreement and thanked the district bargaining team for a collaborative process. "MVTA members are very pleased to be heading into the summer with an agreement that will provide increased support for teachers and students in the classroom," the MVTA presenter said during public comments.
During agenda review and personnel items, staff presented the AB1200 public disclosure forms required by state fiscal guidelines to summarize the immediate and ongoing fiscal impacts of tentative agreements. The district said the county office reviewed the AB1200 submissions and worked with staff to ensure disclosure language captured non‑salary items and met the state's minimum requirements.
Trustees moved and approved the AB1200 disclosure and then approved the tentative agreement on the board floor. Trustees described the negotiations as a process that required listening and compromise. One trustee said the settlement included structural contract changes intended to benefit students by clarifying preparation time and class size thresholds for certain grades.
No trustee opposed the measures; the motions passed in the open meeting.
Next steps: staff said the AB1200 disclosures will be submitted to the county office of education for recordkeeping and that the approved salary schedules and benefit adjustments will be reflected in the district's 2025‑26 budget documents.
