Clive schedules mural ribbon cutting and trail repairs; SQR cost-share program reached more than 100 properties

Clive staff reported several community and parks updates on Oct. 9: a ribbon cutting for a new mural at the Harbach Center scheduled for tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.; improvements to multiple sections of the Green Belt Trail that will mill two inches of existing asphalt, fill cracks and overlay two inches of new asphalt over about 2,000 feet of trail; and completion of the 2025 SQR (sidewalk/quality/replacement) cost-share installations for more than 100 properties, supported in part by state grant funds targeting the Angel Park and Walnut Woods neighborhoods.
Parks staff said the overlay work is a short-term rehabilitation step to extend the life of worn trail sections while larger planning for full replacement continues; crews expect much of the work to finish within a week or two depending on schedules. The mural project involved local families and a visiting artist; staff will distribute a media release and invited council members to the ribbon cutting.
Why it matters: the projects improve public amenities and pathways for residents and demonstrate use of grant funds to expand program reach. Work on the trail will require temporary closures of specific segments while crews mill and repave.
