Iowa DOT schedules unscheduled Hickman Road closure; Clive sets detours and communications

Pete said the closure was not well-notified in advance and that the DOT acknowledged the notice could have been handled better. Staff said the closure will likely increase traffic on 128th Street and on 100th and 114th streets, and noted the northbound (westbound approach) and southbound on-ramps under the bridge will remain open. City communications will use the website, text blast, and social media; staff asked DOT to add or adjust signage and said public-safety responders are being alerted.
Why it matters: the short-term closure is safety-driven to protect workers during girder placement but will create temporary traffic impacts and require coordination with DOT and first responders. The city will publish a detour map and a public notice and monitor traffic during the closure.
