Grimes City Council approved the Home Place site plan on March 24 for a 40-unit building with an attached garage (18 enclosed stalls) and a total of 69 parking spaces. Staff said water service will be provided from the south and that sanitary and storm systems will be private and shared under agreement with an adjacent site (Allure). Landscaping and street-tree requirements were met, and detention for the site was already constructed with a neighboring plat.
A developer representative said the owner plans to market a portion of the apartments to individuals with special needs while the building will otherwise function like a typical apartment complex. Council members commented favorably on the project’s potential to meet local housing needs and approved the plan subject to final staff comments and submittal of remaining documents prior to permitting.
