The Clive City Council on Dec. 11 authorized a multi‑city collaboration to study potential regional fire and EMS arrangements.
Matt presented the effort as the culmination of six to seven months of work with Urbandale and noted Windsor Heights and Walke joined the conversation; the city proposed contracting the Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM) to complete a study and serve as consultant. Matt said the study budget is roughly $140,000 to be split among the four cities by population and that Clive volunteered to serve as fiscal agent.
Council voted to approve the professional services agreement with CPSM and the memorandum of understanding committing the four cities to the cost share; both measures passed by unanimous votes.
Why it matters: The study is intended to identify efficiencies or options for shared fire and EMS service delivery that could affect budgets, station deployments and long‑term service models across participating cities.
