The Lewistown City Commission approved an independent contractor agreement to engage Pamela Bzen to provide limited planning services, including review of floodplain permits and other planning tasks, and authorized the city manager to sign the agreement.
City Manager Holly Phelps said Pamela (described in the meeting as a former county planner) would provide contract services so the city can process planning requests promptly while a full-time planner works a limited schedule for health reasons. Staff said the contract costs will be passed to applicants rather than funded from the general fund.
Commissioners voted to approve the contract and asked a few clarifying questions about travel and mileage; staff said travel expenses would be limited to routine site visits within the city.
