Board approves routine claims, payrolls, permits and contract awards; nuisance mowing contract goes to All for You Lawn Care

The board approved a new handicap sign at 420½ Lincoln Street and a handicap sign renewal at 444 South 14th Street after Richmond Police Department staff said they had inspected those locations and found no alternative off-street parking.
The board granted a street closure for an Earl College homecoming event on the 900 block of East Main Street on Oct. 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Nathan Sheets abstained from that vote because his office college is planning the event. The board also approved a sidewalk-closure request for Dreamscape Builders to remove and restore a facade at 728 East Main Street from April 4 through April 25 and said staff would monitor the site daily.
Matthew Keller, director of public operations and engineering, presented nuisance-mowing and right-of-way mowing bids from Red Dog Enterprises and All for You Lawn Care. All for You Lawn Care bid $140 per nuisance mowing (compared with Red Dog’s $250) and an estimated total of $106,645.65 for right-of-way mowing (Red Dog’s estimate shown in the record was higher). Keller recommended All for You Lawn Care based on price and prior service; the board approved contracting with All for You Lawn Care for these services.
The scheduled vicious dog hearing was canceled because the animal had died, and the board adjourned by general consent.
