School board approves updated staff–student conduct policy but holds off on hugging/kissing language for legal redraft

The Silver Lake J1 School District board on Monday approved recommended revisions to several policies addressing staff–student boundaries and reporting tied to recent state legislation, but it delayed specific language on hugging, kissing and parent–staff "favoritism" so the district attorney can reword those sections.

Chris, the district administrator, presented suggested updates developed with Niola, a policy-review vendor, saying the proposed text clarifies prohibited conduct and reporting pathways.
