Selah students advance to nationals and girls basketball reaches state for first time since 1981

McKay reported that 18 FCCLA students earned gold or silver medals at the state leadership conference and that eight groups earned spots to advance to national competition in Washington, D.C. He also noted that student Max Eisman was selected to represent Washington state as an FCCLA national officer candidate and that Leah Richards was elected to the 2026‑27 state executive council and named Washington State President.
The board also recognized athletics: the boys basketball team were league champions and the girls basketball team qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 1981, returning with a sixth‑place trophy. Trustees and attendees praised community support and the broader student experiences that accompanied the teams' success.
Board members said they will invite varsity teams back to a future meeting for recognition.
