Missisquoi Valley School District elects new chair, vice chair and clerk; adopts routine annual authorizations

The Missisquoi Valley School District #89 board elected its leadership and approved routine annual motions and administrative authorizations at its meeting.
Board members nominated and elected Renick Darnell Martin as chair by voice vote, chose Stephanie (recorded as Stephanie Gier/Dier in the roll) as vice chair, and elected Peter Magnet as clerk. The board also adopted the Vermont School Boards Association code of ethics, an annual requirement.
Administration presented the package of standing annual motions that authorize district officials to seek grants, adopt plans and administer federal and state programs in accordance with law. The board approved a motion authorizing the superintendent and designated board officers to represent the district for federal and state funds and to enter written agreements and accept grants on behalf of the district.
The board also approved routine operational authorizations: to allow the board chair (or vice chair if the chair is unavailable) to sign professional contracts after superintendent recommendation, and to sign federal grants and other routine contracts such as bus and snow-plowing agreements. The board appointed Puret Bushard as the MVST voting delegate for statewide health insurance and named the St. Albans (St. Helens) Messenger as the district's official newspaper for notices and legal postings; notices will also be posted to the district's website.
