Council names mayor, councilmember as representatives to TEAM school liaison board

City Manager Rachel Smolinsky introduced the Teaching, Educating and Mentoring (TEAM) school-liaison program, a rebranding and expansion of the former DARE program that places trained law-enforcement officers in schools from elementary through high school. Chief Hamp answered program questions and described staffing; the program is staffed by city officers and county/state partners, and the city seeks one council representative and one alternate to serve on the TEAM board.
Council moved to appoint Mayor Cindy Johnson as the city’s TEAM representative and Councilman Dan Mitchell as the alternate for a one-year term; the motion was seconded and confirmed. Council discussed that the board meets two to four times per year and that the time commitment is relatively light.
