The board paused regular business to recognize district achievements. Scott Brown, an Auditor of State liaison, presented the 2025 Auditor of State Award with Distinction to the New Albany-Plain Local School District and praised the district’s finance team and treasurer, Becky Jenkins, for producing a clean audit report that met statutory filing and accounting requirements.
"On behalf of Auditor of State Keith Faber, I would like to present the New Albany-Plain Local School District with the 2025 Auditor of State Award with distinction," Scott Brown said as he presented the recognition.
Superintendent Dr. Russell and board members then acknowledged academic honors. Dr. Russell noted the top scholastic distinctions and said the district’s valedictorian and salutatorian are named using seventh‑semester cumulative GPA; the board called students forward and recognized dozens of National Merit commended scholars and finalists and multiple College Board National Recognition honorees.
The recognitions were presented publicly so families could photograph students with board members; Dr. Russell thanked parents and staff and emphasized the district’s commitment to academic and developmental outcomes.
What happens next: the district will continue recognition and award events as part of its regular meeting schedule and communications.
