Penn Manor School District highlights student achievements and $40,000 Mini‑THON for Four Diamonds Fund

A presenter for the Penn Manor School District said at a mid‑March meeting that students and staff have had a productive year of classroom and extracurricular achievements, including an over $40,000 Mini‑THON for the Four Diamonds Fund and multiple state‑level recognitions.
The presenter pointed to a range of hands‑on learning opportunities: many fifth graders ran BizTown for a day, Marticville and Manor students took part in YES Day (Your Economic Success Day), all freshmen attended a STEM Summit, and juniors gained financial skills. "Make It Happen, our theme for the year," the presenter said, and thanked community volunteers and Junior Achievement for providing those learning activities.
On fundraising, the presenter said the high school Mini‑THON "once again exceeded expectations by raising over $40,000 for the Four Diamonds Fund to end childhood cancer," and thanked students, staff and community supporters for their work on the event.
The district also celebrated student recognition in arts and athletics. The presenter thanked the cast and crew of Marticville Middle School and praised the high school musical production of The Music Man. Music students Matthew Palmieri and Noah Tool represented Penn Manor at the Region Chorus Festival; Matthew placed first on his voice part (bass one) and will represent the district at the All‑State Choir Festival in April. In athletics, junior Drew Landis finished third in the 200 freestyle at the PIAA State Swimming championships, the presenter said.
Agriculture education received a special mention: the presenter recommended recognizing 18 Manor FFA members who received the Keystone FFA Degree, noting this is the highest number the club has received at one time and that the Keystone degree is the highest award available to high‑school FFA members in the state.
The presenter also recognized Eshleman Elementary School fifth‑grade teacher Mrs. Eliza Becker, saying she was named one of 24 semi‑finalists for the 2027 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year award for her innovative classroom practices.
The presenter closed by thanking the Penn Manor Education Foundation for financial support, alongside PTOs and the secondary booster club for fundraising and coordination, and noted there remains one marking period left in the school year with more opportunities to celebrate students and staff.
