At the meeting, the Bethel Park School District board approved a bond resolution on a roll-call vote and also approved a technology equipment lease and a moving-services contract.
Mr. Christensen moved the finance items and requested a roll-call on the bond resolution; the roll call showed nine votes in favor and no recorded no votes. The district also approved a device lease intended for student and staff devices and awarded a bid for moving services to Central Allied Services to support building transitions and furniture moves.
District staff explained that a shortage and rapidly rising prices for certain AI-capable chips and components motivated the earlier-than-usual procurement and leasing timeline, even though the devices will be paid from the next fiscal year—s budget. "With the demand for AI chips there's a shortage of standard chip computers. So it's... causing a price increase that is happening pretty quickly," a district representative said in committee remarks.
The board recorded motions as passed (votes in the record noted as '90' or by roll call for the bond resolution). Specific contract award details were described in the procurement presentation; the winning mover was named and staff noted that the bid encompassed boxing, delivery and in-room set-up for designated items.
The bond resolution and leasing approvals moved forward without substantive public comment; the district will proceed with procurement and contracting next steps as authorized by the board.
