The Board of Mayor and Aldermen on March 12 approved two resolutions updating the town's surplus property policy and declaring a list of items surplus for sale or disposal.
Finance Director Tessa Cortez told the board R2026-05 revises the town's surplus property policy to reflect the finance director's responsibilities after an internal role separation, ensuring obsolete or low-value equipment is offered for sale in an open and transparent manner. The board approved R2026-05 as presented.
On R2026-06 the board approved a resolution declaring a set of town-owned items surplus and authorizing advertising and sale via govdeals.com; the resolution permits items valued at $2,000 or less to be donated or scrapped. Town Administrator David Smoke said proceeds from any sales will be returned to the equipment replacement fund.
Both resolutions were approved by voice vote with no recorded objections. Staff will proceed with posting surplus items for sale and updating fixed-asset records as required.
