Superintendent Mr. Fischer told the board on March 23 that the district plans to build a 24-by-61-foot outdoor sports storage building adjacent to the track to store roughly $80,000 of recently purchased track equipment and other field-maintenance items.
Mr. Fischer said Erns Concrete has offered to donate the concrete pad, Miller Sheds will supply the building at cost (providing labor at no additional charge), and Miami Valley Site Work has provided excavation/site-preparation assistance. Taken together, those contributions reduce the district’s out-of-pocket cost to about $33,000, he said. The district plans to use sponsorship signage on the building as an additional revenue offset.
"We are in a position to build a storage facility for our — we're going to call it outside sports storage — because it's going to not just encompass all of our $80,000 worth of track equipment that we just purchased," Mr. Fischer said, adding site placement details and that construction would begin after spring.
Board members thanked community partners and indicated appreciation for donated labor and materials; no formal vote was recorded at the meeting to authorize capital expenditure or a specific funding appropriation. Mr. Fischer said the project would begin sometime after spring and that staff would return with more details as plans solidify.
Next step: staff to provide timing, final cost/contract details and any formal funding requests at a future meeting.
