Treasurer Mr. Bassler told the Carlisle Local School District board on March 23 that the district’s fiscal year 2025 audit will not be completed by the March 31 statutory filing deadline because the auditing firm lacks sufficient personnel. He said the district has issued a request for proposals for next year’s audit and expects to provide an update at the April board meeting.
"March 31st is the deadline for audits to be filed and they will not have our audit done by March 31st," Mr. Bassler said, explaining the shortfall stems from the auditor’s manpower constraints. He said the district will file for an extension and that the RFP for an independent outside accounting firm is currently being evaluated by the four participating school districts.
Mr. Bassler said the state carries most of the scoring weight for the multi-district procurement process and that the district’s options appear to be reputable local firms. He did not provide a final completion date beyond a general ballpark after March 31 and said he hopes to report more information in April.
The board did not take a formal vote on the audit at the meeting; the treasurer presented the update as a non-action informational item.
Next step: staff will report audit status and any extension filings at a future meeting.
