Board schedules work session on Veterans Garden; considers movable historical exhibit and recruitment timeline

Board members reviewed a proposal from a group building a movable triangular pictorial wall (approximately 6×12 feet) for public display as a fundraiser/education piece tied to the Veterans Garden. Staff said the exhibit could be deployed at market events (Labor Day weekend and a Main Street market) and suggested coordinating space, marketing and security; the group includes a local contact (Kathleen) who is based in the region.

Members agreed that the Veterans Garden needs a focused work session to finalize layout, marketing, and fundraising approaches and asked staff to bring the topic back in a special meeting. The board tentatively scheduled a work session for March 25 (with April 1 as an alternative) and discussed inviting the American Legion (the post) to a regular meeting to gather input while avoiding overly large work-session crowds.

Separately, staff reviewed a revised advisory-board recruitment process: applications will be open soon, terms are proposed to be aligned to end in June which may require bylaw changes, and current members will be permitted to reapply so ongoing participation is uninterrupted during the transition. Staff will post application questions in the Google Drive folder and coordinate interviews once recruitment opens.

Board members also requested a binder/onboarding packet for new advisory‑board members (bylaws, annual reports, calendar, and a short year-in-review) and proposed a future budget-work session (September/October) timed to the town budget calendar so that park projects can be recommended to trustees with clear financial context.
