Board member John announced at the March 26 meeting that he has submitted a 30-day resignation, making his final day April 25. He said a career opportunity required a time commitment incompatible with continued board service.
District counsel/clerks explained the options for filling a trustee vacancy: appoint an eligible and willing resident to serve until the next election, hold a special election within 90 days, or leave the seat vacant until the May 19, 2026 election. Trustees generally favored letting voters decide at the May election; if the board waits, the third-place finisher in the May race would fill the unexpired term through June 2028.
Administrators said nominating-petition deadlines and required public notices will be handled through the clerk’s office and encouraged interested community members to obtain nominating petitions. The district will publish the official notice and timeline to the community.
