Board approves principal contract clarifications and $6,900 stipend; one trustee votes no

The Ogilvie Public School District board on March 23 approved two personnel items related to Principal Sue Davis’ contract and district assessment responsibilities.

First, trustees approved a proofreading amendment to the principal’s employment agreement to correct an inconsistency between the district’s historical practice (expressed in hours) and the MSBA template (expressed in days). Board members repeatedly characterized the change as clarification rather than renegotiation and voted unanimously to adopt the corrected language.

Second, the board approved an employment-contract adjustment and a stipend to compensate school leaders who filled in for the district assessment coordinator while that coordinator was on paid Minnesota leave. Administrators explained the stipend calculation and prior comparators: earlier district practice showed a comparable figure of about $7,197.30 when the coordinator duties were previously backfilled, and the board approved a $6,900 stipend (computed in discussion as 69 days × $100) to compensate alternating staff who handled test coordination and security duties.

The assessment‑compensation motion passed on roll call with one recorded dissent. A board member asked for more detailed budget spreadsheet crosswalks; administrators said they can provide a cost-analysis summary if trustees want a deeper accounting of how backfill and paid-leave premiums affect fund balances.

The actions were itemized and recorded in meeting minutes; no further personnel reductions were authorized at the meeting.
