District announces two retirements; private donor funds pool-locker replacement

Superintendent Adam announced two upcoming retirements and thanked the employees for long service to the Williamston Community Schools community.
Adam described Pam (transportation department) as a long-time district employee with deep community ties who has been instrumental in routing, scheduling and supporting drivers; he said she has driven a bus by choice to stay connected with drivers and students and praised her institutional knowledge. Adam said the district hopes she will continue to help as a substitute driver in a different capacity.
Adam also announced the retirement of Dr. Delp, noting that under his leadership the high school showed measurable improvements including high graduation rates and curricular and instructional initiatives. Adam credited Dr. Delp with implementing standardized grading, curriculum development and a focus on social-emotional learning that contributed to school improvements during his tenure.
On facilities, administration reported a private donor has provided a substantial gift targeted to replacing rusted pool lockers. Staff said the district will coordinate the locker replacement work during the planned pool closure for the HVAC project (pool scheduled to be closed from May 1 until mid-July).
Next steps: The board and administration will proceed with hiring and succession planning for the affected roles and will schedule the locker replacement as part of summer facilities work.
