Covington board approves monthly financials, Teach For America renewal, MOU with Boone County

Director Berchie presented the treasurer’s report and said the district is more than halfway through the fiscal year, reporting roughly $42–$43 million in revenue and about $26 million in expenses; Berchie explained that revenue timing (arrears) and several year-end payrolls can make monthly figures look skewed. A motion to approve the financials and warrants passed on a roll call.
The board approved a standard contract renewal with Teach For America. Ms. Howard, joining remotely, said the organization has partnered with Covington since 2012 and currently places 10 teachers in district schools across multiple attendance zones. The board also approved a change order that staff said is within the project contingency.
The board approved a memorandum of understanding with Boone County Schools for the Ignite Institute and asked staff to provide a follow-up comparing Ignite programs to district offerings; staff agreed to supply that information to the board.
All items were approved by motion and roll call during the meeting.
