Staff reported that recent snow totals exceeded 26 inches and that preliminary village expenditures for the event are estimated at roughly $154,000, above the cited $80,000 threshold for state disaster declaration eligibility. Staff said they are working with Brown County Emergency Management to assemble documentation and to refine the event start and stop times used to calculate eligible expenses.
Board members praised highway, parks and public works personnel for extended operations during the storm, noting some employees slept on cots to maintain service and cleanup. Following a motion and second, the board approved the disaster declaration to enable an application for state assistance.
Staff indicated the $154,000 figure is a working estimate and that final eligible costs will be determined as timing and expense records are finalized.
