Vendor contracts: staff proposed four contract actions for board consideration: a three‑year renewal with Cardinal Point for security‑guard services (hourly rates with a 3% annual increase and limited reductions in some add‑on rates); a three‑year renewal with Healthcare Services Group for custodial services (a 2.5% annual increase and an added staff position for middle‑school square footage, yielding an estimated year‑one to year‑three cost range provided by staff); renewal of Environmental Controls for AHA‑designated air‑quality services on fee‑for‑service terms; and a new five‑year safety‑monitoring agreement with Zero Eyes estimated at $37,260 per year.
Zero Eyes and security discussion: committee members asked how Zero Eyes differs from on‑site guards. Mr. Chinta explained that Cardinal Point supplies personnel while Zero Eyes is an AI‑based enhancement to the camera system that monitors exterior areas and parking lots for weapons or safety threats and integrates with existing cameras. Staff said the district had discussed Zero Eyes in prior meetings and is bringing it forward now as a proposed five‑year service.
Procurement timing: staff said contract approvals will be requested at the April 7 board meeting; the custodial contract may be delayed to April 21 if the final draft is not ready. Staff noted some contract price increases reflect market wage pressures and added operational requirements.
