Second-graders showcase leadership projects at Amery School Board meeting

Students emphasized interpersonal goals as strongly as concrete activities: "Leadership means being kind," one student said; another added, "Leadership means being helpful." Mercer told the board these projects are contingent on positive behavior and are intended to empower students to practice the district’s "warrior way." Board members praised the group’s presentation and thanked Mercer and the classroom leaders for bringing the students to the meeting.
The student spotlight was presented as a practical illustration of the district strategic-plan objective to "empower every learner to reach their full potential academically, socially and personally." Board members said the evening’s presentation underscored the district’s focus on community partnerships and student leadership.
