Cass County introduces K9 Finn as community-outreach and comfort dog

Sheriff John introduced the sheriff's office's newest K9, Finn, and said Finn and handler Jolene will focus on community outreach as well as limited investigative support.
Jolene described examples where a comfort dog changed the mood of a frightened child at a medical call and said Finn will be used at schools and community events to build relationships. "His whole job is to comfort people when they're scared or upset," Jolene said, recounting a recent call where Finn helped calm a young child who had witnessed a seizure.
Sheriff John noted donations funded Finn's acquisition and that the K9 will also support critical-incident debriefs and engagement with residents. Commissioners were invited to meet Finn after the meeting.
