Supervisors highlighted winners from each district, noting the contest’s role in connecting libraries and the arts to county communities. L.A. County Library Chief Executive Yolanda Pena and County leaders also recognized employees and volunteers. Chair Hilda Solis received two special edition bookmarks created in her honor, and the Board honored Lourdes Saab, Chief of Protocol, for over 20 years of County service.
The presentation included applause, short acceptance remarks from honorees and a photo opportunity. Supervisors emphasized the role of libraries in education, arts and civic life, and thanked families, librarians and community partners for making the contest successful.
These ceremonial recognitions were not tied to formal Board action and concluded with the Board moving to the business session.
