Okaloosa Beach Safety: Lifeguards on duty daily 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; flags to remain through Oct. 31

Lieutenant Furle of Okaloosa Beach Safety announced that the department completed its first lifeguard academy of the season and that newly certified lifeguards will be patrolling Okaloosa Beach.
"We will be in service from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.," Lieutenant Furle said, adding that lifeguards will be on the sand to educate visitors and keep beachgoers safe. He also said, "Flags will also be flying all the way through October 31st," and that "the text message will be going out every day."
The department said the staffing and flag operations are intended to guide visitors about water conditions and hazards and to provide a visible safety presence on the beach. No formal motions or votes were recorded in the announcement, which was a brief operational update.
