Family and medical leave: The board reviewed a first-reading update to the district’s family and medical leave policy to align with federal, Oregon, and new paid-leave Oregon rules. Directors recommended simplifying policy text and keeping procedural details in staff handbooks so the policy remains stable as laws change.
Negotiation designation: The board moved and approved a motion designating the board chair and vice chair to conduct early-stage negotiations with the superintendent on a contract extension and related matters; trustees noted this follows past practice and protects the full board from violating public meeting rules during negotiation preparation.
