Enterprise City Schools honors students and staff at March 31 board meeting

Enterprise City Schools recognized several students and staff at its March 31, 2026, Board of Education meeting.
Dr. Jason Haden, principal at Herring Creek Elementary School, introduced Marlenei Pablo Pedro as the school’s student of the month, saying she "is an outstanding sixth grade student who exemplifies the values of excellence, leadership, and service." He noted Marlenei’s National Beta Club membership, strong grades and volunteer work and said she "hopes to one day become a medical doctor so she can help people and make a difference in the world." The board gave the student recipients and staff a round of applause.
Dr. Haden also recognized Miss Valerie Abbott as support staff of the month, summarizing her background in physical education, her ties to the community and her years serving Herring Creek. Miss Britney Mackenzie was named teacher of the month; the board noted her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and seven years teaching in the Enterprise City School System.
Separately, Mr. Jimmy Baker of Brookwood Elementary introduced fifth-grader Hikaru Sin, who represented Brookwood and Enterprise City Schools at the Alabama Spelling Bee and advanced through five rounds at the state competition. Board members encouraged applause and community recognition for the students and staff honored.
