At its March 17 meeting the Whitney Point Central School District board approved a slate of routine personnel items, accepted a donation, and adopted several resolutions to be placed on the May ballot.
Personnel and routine business: the board approved a tenure appointment for Amanda Dunham, elementary teacher (effective March 14, 2026); accepted retirements including Jeffrey Dedricch (librarian, effective June 30, 2026) and Don Fox (school psychologist, effective June 30, 2026); and approved the appointment of Cindy Clark as a bus driver (effective March 12, 2026). All personnel motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Donations and equipment: the board accepted a donation from the Eagles Nest Booster Club for the high-school baseball program; the transcript lists a garbled dollar amount (see clarifying details). The board also passed a resolution to acquire instructional-technology equipment under a five-year installment purchase. The presenter listed two Bambu Lab Carbon 3D printers, 130 Dell Chromebook 11 units, a mix of Dell monitors and laptops and an equipment subtotal of $99,500 with an estimated financing cost of $13,529.65, for an estimated total of about $113,029.65; the district said the interest rate would not exceed 7%.
May ballot propositions: the board voted to submit three propositions to district voters on May 19, 2026. One proposition would authorize purchase of replacement buses (two 71-passenger buses and two 42-passenger wheelchair buses) and bond or otherwise finance up to the total estimated amount shown in the resolution (transcript shows some figures with transcription errors; see clarifying_details). A second proposition would authorize a separate library tax totaling an additional $29,000 per year, which the resolution describes allocating $126,000 annually to Mary Wilcox Memorial Library and $65,000 annually to the Lyle Free Library as part of a $191,000 total annual levy (as stated in the resolution). A board member recorded an abstention on the library proposition vote.
Procedural: the board approved a resolution establishing the public budget hearing for May 5, 2026 (6 p.m., high-school auditorium) and the annual meeting and budget vote for May 19, 2026 (high-school cafeteria, polls open 1–8 p.m.). The board authorized the district clerk to publish notices and handle absentee and military-ballot procedures as required by Education Law.
Attribution and public comment: Amy Lynch and Sue Sterns of the Mary Wilcox Memorial Library spoke during public comment to explain the library’s petition and said the addition was paid primarily with New York State library construction grants and private grants, not by operating tax revenue.
