North Kansas City Schools honor 2026 Service and Teaching Cadres; volunteer and American Legion Post recognized

Jane Rinehart, president of the North Kansas City Schools Board of Education, opened the March 24 meeting by calling the board—s appreciation for district employees and welcoming families and honorees to an awards night.
The board adopted a resolution recognizing the 2026 Culture of Excellence Service Honor Cadre and then invited honorees forward to receive awards. The Service Honor Cadre named dozens of employees including Clarissa Bernotas, Jessica Brown, Doug Cronk, Tamera DeRossett, Ann Dickey, Eric Garcia, Russell Hendricks, Brett Lampson, Christina McCabe, Justin Orlowski, Cat (Kat) Parsons, Ingrid Porter, Hannah Pritchett, Jean Rook, Jill Vaughn, Shanelle Walker, Dawn Wilson and others. Rinehart said the recognition was "a moment to pause from the busyness of the school year and relax for a little bit and say thank you to all of you."
Vice President Kerry Gleason Miller read a separate resolution that the board adopted recognizing the 2026 Culture of Excellence Teaching Honor Cadre. The teaching cadre lists 19 educators from across the district, including Cindy Anderson, Andrew Bowman, Jessica Butts, Jessica Faust, Rachel Gates, Lisa Hendel, Nancy Knippfel, Chelsea Cusick, Jacqueline Leonard, Lori McKeefrey, Amanda Mydlo, Cassandra Netto, Sarah Sansom, Clarissa Santiago, Brett Schmidt, Amy Schneider, Sarah Sunderland and Cynthia Twibell.
The board also announced its Volunteer of the Year as Patrick Lindmark, praised for coordinating holiday support for nearly 100 students at Briarcliff and Crestview, and named American Legion Post 626 in Gladstone the district—s Business of the Year for ongoing support of school programs such as Veterans Day events and academic competitions.
All ceremonial resolutions and lists were adopted by voice vote during the meeting. The board provided honorees time to form a receiving line and posed for photos; members of the board and district leadership praised individual examples of service, such as classroom supports, restorative practices, family outreach and program leadership.
The meeting moved afterward into regular business (agenda and consent approvals) and other items on the agenda.
