Following a closed executive session March 31, the Las Vegas City Schools board took three actions announced in open session.
First, the board authorized the superintendent to investigate and identify district real property for potential purchase, use, or disposal; board members specifically referenced Legion Park Elementary as part of that authorization.
Second, the board approved a motion to waive attorney‑client privilege so that an investigative report related to Archea v. Las Vegas City Schools may be released; counsel and administration recommended the waiver to permit public or administrative follow‑up related to a former certified administrator.
Third, the board authorized the district’s legal counsel to prepare and deliver a response to an employee complaint about board member activity and to provide follow‑up guidance to the board. Two board members abstained from that roll call vote, as recorded in open session.
Board counsel Gino Zamara explained that the items discussed in executive session involved property and pending litigation matters allowed under NMSA 1978 provisions for closed session discussions; no other action was taken in closed session, and the board reported these discrete follow‑up actions in open session.
The superintendent and counsel will return to the board with any documents or follow‑up required by the approved authorizations.
