Board adopts ethics and fiscal policies, begins first readings on recording and consent-agenda rules

The Brookline School Board voted to adopt two annual policies at its March 25 meeting: BCA (board member code of ethics) and DFA (fiscal management/investment procedures). Both were adopted by roll-call as part of standard annual governance housekeeping.
The board also moved four items forward as first readings so the policy committee could review language before a second reading in April. Those first reads covered: a consent‑agenda option (BEDB) intended to streamline nondisruptive, routine items such as lists of resignations and nominations; IJND (video and audio recording in classrooms) to clarify when consent is required for recordings; EEA (video/audio recordings on school property) to address live-streaming and public events; and EEA‑R, the administrative procedure for camera systems, which clarifies storage, access and redaction procedures for security video.
Board members asked staff to circulate draft policy language to committee members for feedback (to avoid inadvertent quorum concerns) and asked administration to coordinate with the SAU policy group on bus-camera and vendor arrangements; the board scheduled detailed policy review at a policy committee meeting in April.
