Allison was elected chair of the Brookline School Board at its March 25 reorganization meeting after a nomination and an ensuing vote the board announced as 5–0 in favor. The motion to elect Allison was seconded and carried without recorded opposition.
The meeting proceeded to fill other leadership roles. Johanna nominated herself for vice chair and spoke about her interest in learning meeting procedure; Tracy was also nominated and described two years of service in the role and a preference for continuity. The board voted to name Tracy vice chair by voice vote. Lynn was nominated and confirmed as secretary. The board also confirmed Heather and Lynn as signers of the manifest and named Johanna as the alternate signer.
Board members discussed the chair’s practical responsibilities, including agenda setting and serving as a liaison between the superintendent and the full board. The chair noted that agenda materials are posted at least 48 hours in advance and that supporting documents are distributed as they become available to preserve transparency.
The reorganizational votes were routine, took place at the start of the meeting, and set the board’s leadership and committee-planning process for the coming year. The chair said she would circulate a committee list and proposed appointments ahead of the next meeting.
