Consultant lays out summer'fall engagement plan for Pelican Rapids long-range strategy

True North Consulting Partners outlined the firm's multi-phase approach to help Pelican Rapids Public Schools develop a three- to five-year long-range plan that will produce prioritized goals and an action plan with monitoring tools.
"Our primary partners are Terry Quist... and Julie Critz," consultant Jeff Olsen said while introducing the firm's experience, and he summarized the work True North will do: document review in early August, listening sessions and focus groups in late August and mid-September, a survey open Sept. 17'25, and a 12'15-member Elevating Student Success team that will meet multiple times to prioritize findings.
Olsen described deliverables as a short long-term priorities report (three to five priorities), aligned goals and objectives, and a comprehensive strategic action plan with monitoring templates "so that something really happens and it's not a report that gets stuck on a shelf." He emphasized multiple opportunities for input: in-district visits during the school day for students, before-and-after sessions for staff, and evening sessions for community members.
Board members asked about boosting survey participation and multilingual access. Olsen recommended a mix of outreach strategies'mailings, local outlets, liaison-driven outreach and translated materials'and said True North will help customize the survey and outreach plan.
Next steps include assembling the ESS team, finalizing listening-session logistics and beginning the district document review in August; Olsen said the consultant team will return with refined dates and materials before in-district work begins.
