CTE students earn industry credentials; district receives major equipment and grant support

Director of Innovation and Career & Technical Education Jennifer Eve briefed the board on recent CTE successes and community support.
Eve said the district's automotive program achieved an 82% first-time pass rate on ASE manual drivetrain and axles certification and that 100% of animal-science students earned OSHA-10. She also reported that second-year fire students completed Fire II industry-recognized certifications and earned dual-credit alignment with Ivy Tech (course HSPS 167). "100% of our animal science students have earned their OSHA 10..." Eve said.
Eve described community and industry partnerships that support hands-on learning: Milestone Contractors LP and its staff helped secure and deliver a donated 2017 Caterpillar skid loader for the district's construction trades program; Eve said Milestone employees attended the presentation to honor the donation and that safety and training steps will precede student operation. She also said the district has received lumber and materials donations for construction trades.
Separately, a board member announced the United Way pledged $20,000 to support the district's Start United summer kindergarten-readiness program, which typically serves 50–75 students and uses assessments to identify readiness gaps before kindergarten. The funds, the board member said, will support the two-week readiness program at the end of July.
No board action was required at the meeting; the report highlighted workforce-aligned credentials and community partnerships that expand student opportunities.
