County receives Friends of Fonta Flora match pledge for Canal Bridge sidewalk project

She said the total project is about $1.24 million and requires a 20% local match, roughly $310,000; Friends of Fonta Flora committed $150,000 toward that match.
Shabbain said the county completed the original design with an engineering firm and received NCDOT approval in 2023. She said NCDOT will serve as the lead construction and project oversight agency as the locally administered project proceeds.
The board acknowledged the presentation and posed no substantive objections; staff and partners took photographs to mark the match commitment.
