Local community group asks commissioners for help securing a neighborhood resource center

Walls described the group's work since December 2022 and outlined services they hope to offer, including meals, health fairs, training and apprenticeship opportunities for local young people. She said the group needs "someone with the knowledge of grants and the ability to write to train us," and asked county staff to provide information and contacts for potential funding and technical assistance.
The board thanked Walls and suggested staff or commissioners could follow up; Walls provided a phone contact on behalf of the group and invited commissioners to visit one of their monthly meetings. No formal county action or funding commitment was made at the March 10 session.
