The Commerce & Economic Development committee on April 2 said it will continue deliberations on S327, a package of economic development bills, and is considering whether to incorporate S1137 — a CPACE measure from the Energy and Technology committee — into the economic development bill.
The chair said she has discussed the matter with the Energy and Technology chair and asked staff to review what portions of CPACE might fit within the S327 base bill. Members agreed that folding CPACE language into the economic package could be appropriate, but asked for additional detail on how the change would interact with existing residential and commercial incentives.
The committee did not take formal action but signaled further conversations with the sending committee and with staff to refine language and assess fiscal and programmatic impacts.
Next steps: staff will coordinate with the Energy and Technology chair to produce suggested language and provide the committee additional detail for future consideration.
