The combined recommended contract amount is $288,200; staff noted a contingency of approximately $42,000 and a project budget of $490,000.
Council members asked about the variability of bids and whether the recommended contractors had local experience; staff said they reviewed qualifications and cited examples of L&T’s work in other states and are comfortable with the recommendation. Staff also said the large tower was last fully painted in 2006 and that thickness testing showed thin areas that should be addressed to prevent rust.
